JAMESTOWN, N.D. - Eastern Oregon was back in action Saturday as they competed in day two of the Women's NAIA National Championships in Jamestown, N.D. The Mountaineers finished 12th overall with 44 total team points. Eastern also earned four top-eight finishers awarding them each a spot on the 2023 NAIA Women's Wrestling All-American Team.
The highest placer for the Mountaineers was Liv Wieber of the 143-pound weight class. Wieber took fifth overall in the division after going 2-1 on day two. The Freshman started off the day with a tough win over Josette Partney of Missouri Baptist before dropping her second match of the day to Emma Walker of Campbellsville. For the final match of the tournament, Wieber matched up against Isabelle Hawley of Iowa Wesleyan in the fifth place match. Wieber ultimately took a hard fought match over Hawley by pin awarding her fifth place in the 143-pound weight class and a spot on the 2023 NAIA Women's Wrestling All-American Team.
The next highest placer for the Mounties was Erin Redford of the 136-pound weight class. Redford went 1-2 on the final day of competition earning her sixth place in division. The grad student earned a spot on the 2023 NAIA Women's Wrestling All-American Team based on her top-eight finish in the tournament.
The final Mountaineers to reach the top eight and earn All American honors were Olivia Robinson and Kaylee Moore. Robinson finished eighth in the 170-pound weight class after going 0-2 on the final day of competition. Moore, a senior from Yakima, Wash. finished eighth in the 130-pound weight class after dropping both of her matches on day two of the tournament.
This concludes the 2022-2023 season for Eastern Oregon University Women's Wrestling.
