FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon Women's Wrestling team returned to the mat on Sunday as they traveled to Forest Grove, Ore. to compete in the Mike Clock Open. It was a solid showing as the Mountaineers managed to tab six wrestlers as top six finishers in the tournament.
Nayeli Flores Roque was the top placer for the Mountaineers as she had a strong showing, securing 2nd place in the 109-pound division. She won her Champ. Round 1 match by fall in one minute and 13 seconds. She continued her dominance with victories in the Quarterfinal by pin in just 44 seconds and in the Semifinal also by pin 4 minutes and 14 seconds into the match. However, she dropped the championship match to Marjorie McDaniel (Unattached) who won by tech fall with a score of 10-0.
The second highest placer for the Mountaineers was Liv Wieber who secured 3rd place in the 155 pound division. She dominated in her first match of the day, winning by tech fall over Ashley Rosas of Umpqua Community College, 10-0. Wieber faced a decision loss in the Quarterfinal before rebounding in the Cons. Round 2 with a win by pin just one minute and two seconds into the match. She continued her success in Cons. Round 3 with another tech fall victory, 10-0. In her next match, she won by pin this time just one minute and 25 seconds into the match against Jocelyn Velasco. In her final match of the day, Wieber won yet again by tech fall this time over Southern Oregon University's Quilaztli Miguel-Lapham.
