ASHLAND, Ore. – No. 17 Mountaineer Women's Wrestling dropped their second straight dual to in-state rival No. 3 Southern Oregon Saturday night, falling 37-8 on the road. The loss puts Eastern Oregon's dual record at 4-5 overall and 0-2 in CCC action.

Helping the Raiders (9-2, 6-1 CCC) secure the win was eight wins in the 10 bouts, including two by way of forfeit. Through the first five bouts, the Raiders racked up 17 points and held Eastern to just five to lead by 12.

Southern started the night winning the first three match-ups, with one being a forfeit. A pin at 101 pounds made it 5-0 start. SOU then scored a 10-2 decision at 109 pounds to go ahead 8-1. A forfeit by EOU at 116 pounds made it a 13-1 score.

Macy Higa picked up the first win for Eastern with a 10-0 tech fall in 1:23 at 123 pounds. Her shutout made it a 13-5 contest, but the Raiders then won five of the final six bouts to secure the home win.

The only other win for the Mountaineers came at 170 pounds, with Olivia Robinson scoring a 2-1 decision. The Raiders scored two tech falls and two pins to go along with a forfeit to walk away with the 37-8 victory.

The Mountaineers will close out the regular season next Thursday, Feb. 10 on the road with a dual at Corban University. Mat action is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in Salem, Ore.
