Whitworth Indoor Invitational
Spokane, Wash.
The Podium
Saturday, Feb. 12
Field Events: 9 a.m. PT
Track Events: 9:05 a.m. PT
About the Meet
• The Whitworth Invite is the lone meet of the year hosted by an NCAA Division III inside The Podium.
• This year's meet, although hosted by a D3, will feature 19 teams across all three NCAA Divisions and a handful of NAIA schools.
• The final schedule for the meet has field events going at 9 a.m. immediately followed by running events five minutes later.
• The meet is just a one-day affair and will not have the pentathlon or heptathlon on the schedule.
• As is the standard at most indoor meets, there will only be prelims and finals in the 60-meter hurdles and the 60-meter dash.
• Fans who cannot attend the meet can catch all the action by following live results or by watching the livestream. Links for both can be found above and on both EOU Track & Field schedule pages.
• There will be no team scoring for this year's Whitworth Invite.
Last Time Out - Washington State Invite
• Eastern was only able to get two athletes registered for the WSU Invite in heptathletes
TJ Davis and
Sam Roddewig.
• The duo did not shy away from competition as they both placed in the top-10 amongst a field of mostly NCAA D1 athletes.
• Davis was superb finishing second overall, scoring 5,248 points. His point total is second most in program history for the indoor season and he currently leads the NAIA entering the weekend.
• Roddewig battled back from a slow day one and surged from ninth to sixth on the final day. He scored 4,651 points, which ranks eighth in the NAIA entering the weekend …

What to Watch For
• This weekend may be the last chance for the Mountaineers to have athletes hit NAIA A or B standards as it is tentatively their final meet ahead of Indoor Nationals in March.
• Currently, EOU has just six athletes this season that have hit a qualifying mark for a shot at the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
• One area Eastern has not had a qualifying mark in is the distance events. After having two runners earn All-American status last season, not one has hit a qualifying time this year across any event.
• In the field events, Eastern has only had athletes hit a qualifying mark in three events in the pole vault (
Darrian Walker), high jump (
Tyler Jones), and shot put (
Maggie Ledbetter).
• Two loaded running events for EOU's distance squad this weekend will be the women's 800-meter run and the men's 3,000-meter run. Seven women and eight men are entered in the two events, respectively.
Up Next
• Barring EOU not adding any other indoor events in February, the Mountaineers will await their postseason fate and see who will qualify for this year's NAIA Indoor National Championships.
• The 2022 NAIA Indoor National Meet will be held in Brooks, South Dakota March 3-5. The host site will be Dakota State University.
