GREAT FALLS, Mont.- Eastern Oregon was back in action Friday as they traveled to Great Falls, Mont. to compete in the Battle of the Rockies Open on the campus of the University of Providence. The Mounties had a good showing as nine EOU wrestlers were able to take spots on the podium.
Of the nine placewinners on Friday, two were named tournament champions. The first champion for the Mounties was Kaylee Moore in the 130 pound division. In Moore's first match of the day she faced the University of Providence's Isabella Arriaga. Moore was able to make quick work of her first round matchup winning by pin at 0:59 mark. In her second round match Moore was matched up with the University of Alberta's Amy Bell. Moore continued her dominance ultimately taking the match by 10-0 Technical fall leading to a championship matchup against the University of Providence's Gabbriella Parini. Moore ultimately took the match 12-2 by technical fall, dubbing her first place.
The other Mountie who found herself at the top of the podium was Olivia Robinson in the 170 pound division. In Robinson's first match of the day she faced the University of Alberta's Brydon Switzer. Robinson showed to be dominant taking the match 10-0 by technical fall leading to a championship matchup against University of Providence's Jolette Miner-Ho. Robinson ultimately took the match by 8-0 decision, earning first place in the division.
