EOU Tabs Three Placers at Mike Clock Open

FOREST GROVE. Ore.- The Mountaineers were back in action Sunday as they traveled to compete in the Mike Clock Open. The Mounties had a good day on the mat and ultimately tabbed three tournament placers.

The Mounties first tournament placer was Nayeli Flores Roque as she was able to take sixth place in the 109 pound division. Roque had a bye in her first round match leading to a matchup against Menlo Colleges Barbara Greenberg. Roque would eventually drop the match to Greenburg in a 6-1 decision. Roque was able to bounce back after this, taking her next match by pin over Southwest Oregon Community College's Bryanna Luihn. Roque followed the pin with a win over Southwest Oregon Community College's Analee Razo by 8-6 decision. Roque would drop her final match of the day to Emma Baertlein of Southern Oregon by technical fall.

Morgan Shines was the second Mountie to find her way to the podium on Sunday. Shines started off her day with a bye, then matched up against eventual 1st place finisher Bella Amaro of Southern Oregon University. Shines dropped the match against Amaro at a score of a 10-0 technical fall but this was only the start of her day. Winning her next six matches on the day, she took the third place spot on the podium in the 136 pound division.

The final Mountie to reach the podium on Sunday was Freshman Liv Wieber. Wieber had a dominant showing on her route to a second place finish in the 143 pound division. After a first round bye, Wieber matched up against Sophie Keefer of Southern Oregon where she was able to take the match at the 0:46 mark by pin. Wieber then followed by pinning Danielle Rond, who wrestled unattached, at the 0:44 mark. She was not done there as she took on Louis Schwab of Menlo College where she was able to take the match after another pin at the 1:52 mark. It was Emily Se of Southern Oregon who finally took down Wieber in the Championship, tabbing her to the second place spot on the podium.

EOU will be back in action Sunday, Nov. 20 as they travel to Spokane, Wash. to compete in the Spokane Open.
