Eastern Oregon Travels North for Showdown Against Battlin' Bears

LA GRANDE, Ore. - No. 20 Eastern Oregon University Women's Soccer is on the road once again, this time in Montana, as the second half of CCC play begins.

Kickoff
• The Mountaineers (8-2-0, 5-1-0 CCC) will look to get back to their winning ways following a tough 3-1 loss against rival College of Idaho.
• EOU was originally set to take on Rocky Mountain and University of Providence, but COVID-19 protocols have canceled the match-up against the Argos.
• With the cancellation of the Providence game, the Argos match-up against EOU goes down as a forfeit.
• Going into the weekend, eastern is one four one-loss teams in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, but sits alone at second place with the 5-1-0 record.

• The Mountaineers suffered their second loss of the season last weekend as they dropped a 3-1 road contest to rival College of Idaho.
• Scoring the lone goal for Eastern was Kaitlyn McLeod in the 27th minute.

Previously Against Rocky Mountain College
• Eastern is 7-4-0 against Rocky Mountain since 2008 and has won each of the last six showdowns. In that span, EOU is 2-2 against Rocky in Billings. 
• Last season, EOU picked up a pair of home wins over the Batllin' Bears by scores of 2-1 and 3-0, respectively.

• In the CCC preseason coaches' poll, Eastern was tabbed to win the conference crown. The Mounties tallied nine first-place votes and racked up 164 points.
• The next scheduled NAIA top-25 poll is set to release Wednesday, Oct. 13.

Individual Milestones
• Morgan Farrington has 28 career goals scored and is just one away from tying the record of 29 set by Kristen Rice (2003-06). She needs two to become the all-time career leader.
• Kaitlyn McLeod is at 12 career goals which ranks eighth all-time. She needs one to tie for sixth. 
• Mackinley Gregus is at 25 career goals, third most all-time, and is three away from tying for second with Morgan Farrington.
• Mackinley Gregus also has 10 career assists which is tied for second most in program history. She needs one more to take sole possession of first.

Scouting the Competition
Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears

• Rocky Mountain boasts a 5-3-2 overall record and is 2-2-1 in CCC play to sit eighth in the league standings. The Battlin' Bears have also dropped each of their last two matches.
• Offensively, the Battlin' Bears have scored 17 goals and average 1.70 per game on 15.0 shots per contest. They have nien assists on the year as well.
• Defensively, Rocky has surrendered 11 goals and holds opponents to 1.10 goals per game on 8.7 shots per match. They have given up seven assists and have 31 saves this season.
• Halle Labert is the top offensive weapon for Rocky with 10 goals scored and one assist for 21 points. She has taken 35 shots and 23 have come on goal. She has four gamewinning goals.
• Second in goals scored is Morgan Maack with two and one assist for five points. She's taken 15 shots with seven coming on goal.
• Also at five points is Amber Pearson with one goal and a team leading three assists. She is second in shots taken with 26, but just six have come on goal.
• Goalkeeper Morgan Blankenship leads the way in net in terms of appearances. She has played in eight contests and started in six. She has allowed nine goals and tallied 22 saves. She boasts a save percentage of .710.

Up Next
• The Mountaineers will return home for their final three games of the regular season inside Community Stadium. Eastern Oregon begins its four-game homestand against in-state foes in Oregon Tech on Friday, Oct. 15, followed by Southern Oregon on Saturday, Oct. 16. Kickoff for both games is set for 6:30 p.m. PT.
