Mountaineers Continue Homestand Against Knights and Lions

LA GRANDE, Ore. - 13th-ranked Mountaineers Volleyball continues its final homestand with two more games this weekend. Eastern Oregon is in the final stretch of regular season play and will look to stay in the top-two of the conference standings.

First Serve
• The Mountaineers (19-5, 14-2 CCC) go into the weekend already having defeated the Knights and Lions earlier this season.
• Eastern Oregon still holds down the No. 2 spot in the standings going into the final three weeks of regular season play.
• The Mountaineers will have two more games at home in the regular season next week and it will also be Senior Weekend.

Pink Out Night
• Saturday's game against Multnomah will be Pink Out Night. EOU will wear pink uniforms as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

EOU Athletics Spectator Policy
• Spectators will be allowed at EOU sporting events, but masks will be required to be worn correctly (over mouth AND nose) at ALL indoor and outdoor events per state and local policy. This is subject to change at any time.
• Failure to comply with conference or institutional attendance policies will result in removal from venue and any further EOU contests.
• General Admission is allowed for both indoor and outdoor events and is on a first come, first serve basis. To see ticket prices for individual EOU sporting events and to purchase tickets, click here.
• Concessions will be available for outdoor EOU athletic events, but not indoor EOU athletic events.
• Students, faculty, and staff wishing to attend indoor EOU Athletic Events can do so for FREE by showcasing their EOU ID card.

• All home games this year will be webcast on the Mountie Sports Network at www.EOUSports.com/watch. All EOU home games will be Pay-Per-View and can be purchased for $7.95 per game. Fans can also purchase an Eastern Oregon All-Access pass to watch all 2021-22 EOU home sporting events for $100.

Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers got the week started with a 3-0 sweep over the rival Coyotes of College of Idaho.
• EOU hit .341 in the win and its defense held the Yotes to just a .150 attack clip. Breanna Shaffer led all players with 11 kills, while Cambree Scott had seven blocks.

Previously Against Warner Pacific/Multnomah
• EOU already has wins over the Knights and Lions this season, with both coming in sweeps.
• Against WPU, the Mounties hit .388 and held the Knights to a .040 hitting percentage.
• Against Multnomah, EOU posted a .382 attack clip and kept the Lions at a negative attack clip of -.040.
• Since 2015, Eastern is 13-0 against MU with all but one match ending in straight sets.

• EOU checks in at No. 13 in the fourth edition of the NAIA women's volleyball coaches' top-25 poll.
• In the CCC preseason poll, Eastern was picked to win the conference ahead of Corban and Southern Oregon. The Mountaineers tallied eight first place votes and totaled 140 points.
• The next set of NAIA top-25 rankings will be released next Wednesday, Oct. 27

• Of the Mountaineers' 24 matches so far this season, 14 have ended in straight sets.
• EOU has fared well in three-set matches with a 12-2 record.
• The only 3-0 losses for EOU have come against ranked opponents in Bellevue (Neb.) and Corban.
• In four-set matches this year, EOU is a perfect 6-0 this season.

Home Sweet Home
• Since 2011, EOU has fared well at home in the past decade with a 105-11 record.
• In that span, the Mountaineers have never lost more than two games at home.

Madison Morgan is five kills away from 230 for her career and is 16 blocks away from 100 for her career.

Scouting the Competition
Warner Pacific Knights

• The Knights enter the weekend match-up with just a 1-18 overall record and are just 1-15 in conference play.
• Offensively, WPU is hitting just .075 on the year and averages just 8.7 kills per set. They dish out 8.0 assists per set and have 86 service aces on the year.
• Defensively, the Knights are letting opponents hit .263 against them and they surrender 12.5 kills per set. They average 12.7 digs per set and just 0.5 blocks per set.
• Grace Buchanan leads the offense with 308 kills and is averaging 4.46 kills per set. She also has 14 service aces this year which is tied for second most on the team.
• Tevlin Britten is second in kills at 130 total and averages 1.88 per set. She also has seven service aces this year.
• Matalasi Laban is the floor general with 410 assists this season. She is averaging 6.61 assists per set and she is fourth on the team in service aces with 13.
• Leading the team in service aces is Jaliza Lazaro with 19.
• Buchanan also leads the team in digs and blocks with 161 and 11.0, respectively. She averages 2.33 digs per set and 0.16 blocks per set.
• Sabah Mohammady is tied for the team lead in digs with 161. She averages 3.04 per set.

Multnomah Lions
• The Lions enter the weekend with a 4-13 overall record and are 3-13 this season against CCC opponents.
• Offensively, the Lions hit just .081 and average 9.1 kills per set. They dish out 8.5 assists per set and have totaled 83 service aces this season.
• Defensively, Multnomah is surrendering a .219 attack clip to opponents and 11.9 kills per set. They average 14.4 digs per set and 0.9 blocks per set.
• Danae Stokes is pacing the offense this year with 130 kills and averages 2.71 kills per set. She hits .171 and has four service aces.
• Jocelynn Porter is second on the team in kills at 117 and averages 2.09 per set.
• Rachel Bailey facilitates the offense as she has 348 assists on the year. She is averaging 7.10 per set and has seven service aces.
• Lauren Porter is the team leader in service aces with 21.
