LA GRANDE, Ore. – It is with great sadness the Eastern Oregon University Athletic Department mourns the loss of former Track & Field athlete Kimmy (Moore) Cloud. Moore passed away on September 14, 2020 at the age of 30, after a two-year battle with Colon Cancer.
Moore attended EOU from 2009-2012 and was a member of the Mountaineer Track & Field team all four years and ran cross country her senior year in the fall of 2011. Moore was highly competitive as a multi-event athlete and it showed. She earned NAIA Indoor All-American honors in 2012 in the Pentathlon with a fifth-place finish scoring a then school-record 3,413 points.
Moore's performance from that indoor season served as momentum for the outdoor season as she picked up her second career NAIA All-American honor and the first for the outdoor season with a fourth-place finish at the National Championships in the heptathlon.
The history books at EOU are no stranger to Moore as she held the indoor school record in the pentathlon with 3,413 points and is still in the top-10 in five other events eight years after she graduated. She is still in the top-10 for the long jump (5th), 400 meters (8th), 800 meters (5th), 60 meter hurdles (10th), and as a member of the 4x400 meter relay team (3rd).
Moore also still has her name etched eight times in the EOU outdoor record book. She has the third highest point total in the heptathlon with 4,705. She was part of a 4x400 meter relay team that is still second all time. She also has top-10 marks in the 400 (8th), 100-meter hurdles (8th), 400-meter hurdles (2nd).
At the time she graduated, she held two individual school records in 400-meter hurdles and the pentathlon. She was the conference champion in 2012 in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.69, which is the fourth fastest time in conference history. She was also part of two school record relays in the 4x100 and 4x400. At that time, she also showed up on the indoor 200 top-10 list, along with the outdoor 200, 800 and long jump top-10 lists. Additionally, in her one season of cross country, she ran in the top 5 to 7 runners on the team and is still ranked among the top-25 seniors in program history for the 5,000 meters in cross country at 18:58.

Moore graduated from Eastern in 2012 with her MA in Physical Education and Health. While at EOU, Moore met her husband Dustin Cloud who was also a member of the EOU Track & Field team. The two shared a number of interests and fell in love quickly. The couple married on August 17, 2013 in Prineville, Ore. and later had two children together, Tanner and Calynn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 21st, 2020 at 5 p.m. at Eastside Church, Prineville, Ore. If you would like to bring one photo of you and Kimmy, there will be a place to display your memory and share with her family.
