Mountaineers Rack Up Multiple NAIA Academic Awards for 2019-20 Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 22 honorees in addition to over 10,000 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and over 2,000 NAIA Scholar Teams as a part of its annual NAIA National Awards Day on Tuesday. The day recognizes the association's highest individual honors and achievements of NAIA student-athletes, administrators and coaches.
 
The Cascade Collegiate Conference was well represented with 99 teams earning the NAIA Scholar Team Honors. Eastern Oregon had 12 CCC squads make the list in women's cross country, women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, and men's and women's wrestling. Also making the list for the Mountaineers was football out of the Frontier Conference.
 
Holding the highest team GPA of the teams listed above for the 2019-20 academic year was volleyball with a 3.658. Women's basketball was second at a 3.628 GPA, followed by softball with a 3.309 GPA. Leading the EOU men's squads was basketball at a 3.271 GPA. To see the full list click the link above.
 
Additionally, 42 EOU student-athletes garnered Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honors for the 2019-20 academic year. Football led all squads with seven individuals making the list. Leading the way for the women's teams was women's basketball with five. The full list of student-athletes is below.
