Women’s Wrestling Ranked 14th Heading Into CCC Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Eastern Oregon women's wrestling team moved down just one spot in the final NAIA Top-20 rankings of the season, ranking No. 14 heading into the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships on Sunday.
 
The Mountaineers flipped spots with York College who bumped up to No. 13. EOU received 58 points in the final poll and are among four CCC teams in the rankings. Menlo ranks No. 2, followed by Southern Oregon at No. 3 and Providence No. 9.
 
Six Mounties rank in the top-20 of their respective weight classes. Senior Jessica DeHart leads EOU wrestlers at No. 4 in the 109-pound weight class after becoming a three-time WCWA All-American. Senior Amber Pair is No. 8 in the 116-pound weight class, followed by sophomore Erin Redford in ninth at 143 pounds.
 
Also in the top-20 is junior Morgan Shines at No. 12 at 136 pounds, junior Dempsi Talkington at No. 15 at 155 pounds and senior Cassidy Freeman ranked 20th in the 116-pound weight class.
 
The Blue and Gold next head out to the CCC Championships on Sunday, March 1 in Ashland, Oregon.
