EOU Women’s Soccer Blanks Battlin’ Bears 1-0

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The (RV) Eastern Oregon women's soccer team racked off their fourth straight win Sunday afternoon, defeating Rocky Mountain 1-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Mountaineers (8-1-1, 4-1-1) recorded their third shutout in the last four games played, and fifth on the season after a slow start to the CCC season.

The Battlin' Bears (4-4-1, 0-3-1 CCC) failed to find the back of the net for the fourth straight game, losing three of those four contests by a score of 1-0.

The only goal of the match came in the 26th minute when Natalie Mitchell beat the keeper in the box with a shot to the bottom-left corner of the net. The first half score proved to be the game-winning goal for the Blue and Gold.

The defense played exceptionally well once again, allowing only one shot on goal throughout the 90-minute match. The Mounties out-shot the Battlin' Bears 14-6 on the afternoon.

Midfielder Taylor Boyer was active once again in the match, leading the offense with six shots. Four of her six strikes were on goal.

EOU will head west next weekend to visit Kirkland and Olympia for a pair of CCC matchups with Northwest and Evergreen. Northwest has been very effective on offense recently, scoring 21 times in their last three outings.
