EOU Runs Past Geoducks 3-0

OLYMPIA, Wash.- The Eastern Oregon women's soccer team finished the weekend with a 3-0 victory over The Evergreen State College Sunday afternoon in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

After tying to Northwest on Friday afternoon, the Mountaineers (9-1-2, CCC 5-1-2) were eager to get a victory under their belt and they did just that. Senior midfielder Taylor Boyer found the back of the net just 18 minutes into the match when she jumped on a defensive error and put the ball beyond Evergreen's (2-9-0, CCC 1-5-0)  keeper Megan Breckenridge. This is Boyer's seventh goal on the season.

After the break, senior Natalie Mitchell netted her third goal on the season. Eight minutes later freshman Mackinley Gregus wreaked havoc in the Geoduck back line, beating defenders before calmly putting the ball in the net.

The offense finished the game with 18 shots to Evergreen's six. Four EOU players led both teams with three shots a piece including Boyer, Mitchell, Gregus and defender Sarah Mitchell.

A strong defensive effort led the Mounties to their sixth shutout of the year and limited their opponents to only 2 shots on goal. In net, junior Cydni Cottrell made two saves to keep the Geoducks scoreless.

EOU will be on the road again next week, traveling to Portland where they will face Multnomah on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Warner Pacific on Sunday at 11 a.m.
