Softball Weekly Notes: Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech

EOU closes out their 2015 regular season this weekend

This Weekend
The Mountaineers close out the 2015 regular season this weekend when EOU hosts Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday, its Strike Out Cancer at Peggy Anderson Field for Pink Day. Come out, wear pink and get loud on Friday! On Saturday, we will be honoring our four seniors of the EOU softball team.
 
Looking at the Opponents
Southern Oregon

The Raiders of Southern Oregon enter this weekend with a record of 30-20 on the season and are 11-11 in CCC action. The Raiders offense is hitting .315 on the season with 73 doubles and 19 home runs. Leading the offensive charge is Kelsey Randall, who is hitting .427 on the season. Her average is the fifth best average in the CCC. Randall has collected 74 hits on the season, which is the second most in the nation and has 33 stolen bases for the third most in the NAIA. Southern Oregon holds a 3.30 ERA on the season.
Oregon Tech
Oregon Tech enters this weekend with a record of 35-11 on the season and 19-5 in the CCC. The Owls have the lowest ERA I nthe CCC as their pitching staff is only allowing 2.65 earned runs per game. Their opponents are only hitting .237 off the Owls staff this season. Jessie Duncan leads the team with an 2.19 ERA. Tara Moates leads the Owls offense as she has collected a NAIA season-high 76 hits on the season. Moates leads the CCC with a batting average of .503 on the season. Tasha Silvius ranks eighth in the nation with 13 home runs and has collected 55 RBIs on the season.
 
Innings Pitched
On the season, senior pitcher Lindsey Walchli has pitched 162.0 innings. This is the fourth most innings thrown by a pitcher this season. Walchli is second in the CCC in innings pitched this season.
 
Driving in Runs
Senior Cassie Wendt has driving in 49 runs on the season which is 12 best in the NAIA. Wendt is currently one RBI away from tying the single season RBI record at EOU. The single season record is currently held by Nicole Christian who collected 50 RBIs in 2000.
 
Career Home Runs
Earlier this season, Cassie Wendt broke the EOU school record for career home runs. Wendt has hit 33 career home runs. The previous record was 27 career home runs that was set by Megan Platz.
 
Conference Tournament
A five-team, double elimination tournament will be hosted by the CCC regular season champion at their home site. The tournament will be comprised of the top four teams from the Cascade Conference and the top team from the Frontier Conference. The winner of the CCC regular season earns the league's first automatic bid to the NAIA Championships while the tournament champion will receive the second automatic qualifier. In the event the CCC regular season champion is also the tournament champion, the qualifier will be awarded to the runner-up in the tournament.
