Click Here This WeekThis week the Mountaineers will play their last non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, March 25 when they host NCAA Division III Whitworth University at Peggy Anderson Field. Wednesday is Military Appreciation Day and Military Personal and Veterans will receive free admission to the contest. Following Wednesday game, EOU hits the road for two doubleheaders. EOU travels to Oregon Tech and at Southern Oregon.
Last WeekendThis past weekend, the Mountaineers split both of their doubleheaders with Concordia and Oregon Tech. EOU split a doubleheader with No. 16 Concordia University on Friday afternoon at Peggy Anderson Field. The Mountaineers took game one, 6-5, on a walk-off home run by
Cassie Wendt, before falling in game two, 13-4. Eastern Oregon split their doubleheader. On Saturday, EOU split with Northwest, as the Mountaineers took game one, 2-0, before falling in the second game, 5-4, to the Eagles.
Looking at Opponents
WhitworthThe Pirates of Whitworth University enter this game with the Mountaineers with a 16-6 record. As a team, the Pirates have an earned run average of 1.46 and have struck out 70 batters on the season. Leading the pitching staff is MaKayla Lefever, who has an ERA of 1.24 on the season. At the plate, Whitworth is hitting .344 with 36 doubles and 11 home runs.
Oregon TechThe Owls of Oregon Tech enter this week with a 21-8 record on the season and 5-2 in CCC play. Oregon Tech has an ERA of 2.46, which is the best in the CCC. They are led by Jessi Duncan, who was the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week. Duncan has an ERA of 2.14 on the season. Not only does Oregon Tech lead the CCC in pitching, they rank second in batting average as they are hitting .344 on the season. On Monday, the Owls split a doubleheader with Northwest.
Southern OregonSouthern Oregon enters this weekend with a record of 21-13 on the season and 2-4 in CCC action. Leading the Raiders offense is Kelsey Randall has she is hitting .447 on the season. In the circle, Brianne Craig has the second best ERA in the CCC. She is only allowing 2.13 earned runs per game. As a team, the Raiders are hitting .307 with 46 doubles on the season.
Road ContestsThis weekend the Mountaineers head to Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon for their first road games of the CCC season. EOU holds a perfect record, 3-0, in road games this season. Their last road game came on Feb. 28, when they defeated Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho.
EOU at the PlateOn the season the Mountaineers are hitting .331 as a team. They currently have six players hitting .300 or better on the season.
