Click Here Opening WeekendThe Eastern Oregon University softball team opens up their 2015 season this Friday as they take part in the Northwest Cup presented by Concordia (Ore.) University. The Mountaineers will face British Columbia, Simpson, Carroll and Great Falls this weekend to open their season.
Sixth in CCCThe Eastern Oregon University Softball team was picked to finish sixth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Cascade Conference Office announced. EOU received 17 points in the preseason voting by the league's head coaches. EOU finished the 2014 season with an overall record of 17-23 and a CCC record of 7-21.
Key Pieces ReturningThe Mountaineers return two key pieces from last year's team. EOU returns seniors
Lindsey Walchli and
Cassie Wendt. Last season, Walchli led the Mountaineers in the circle. She pitched 195.0 innings, which is the most in a single for EOU. Besides leading the team in innings pitched, Walchli led the team in wins (16), earned run average (4.52) and strike outs (144). Wendt led the Mountaineers in runs batted in (28) and home runs last season (8).
Looking at the 2015 RosterBesides Walchli and Wendt, EOU returns four members of the 2014 Mountaineers. Returners include,

2014 RecapThe Eastern Oregon University looks to improve on a 17-23 overall record and a seventh place finish in the CCC. The Mountaineers lost First Team All-CCC
Mariebeth Watanabe. Watanabe led the team last year in batting average (.387), doubles (12) and steals (14). EOU also looks to replace
Katie Martell. Martell, recorded a batting averaging of .347, collected 25 RBIs, 11 doubles and three home runs last year.
