Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team continued to show promise on the hardwood, but again the Mountaineers fell just short in overtime to a quality NAIA Division I opponent, dropping a 76-72 decision to (RV) Vanguard (Calif.) on Saturday evening.
Junior guard Kentrell Washington netted his seventh-straight double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds, while senior guard Case Rada registered 18 points, including a 3-for-7 effort from beyond the arc. In addition, sophomore guard Miles Loupe added a career-high 10 points and four assists off the bench.
EOU led at halftime, 34-30, but were outscored 8-4 in the extra period.
The Mountaineers (3-4) launched a 43.9 percent clip from the field and pounded Vanguard (4-0) on the glass, 41-25. However, the Navy and Gold coughed up 18 turnovers en route to the defeat.
EOU returns to action on Friday against Metro State in game one of the Wendy's Classic. Tipoff in Caldwell, Idaho, is set for 5 p.m. MT.
