PORTLAND, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University men's soccer team notched a pair of goals in the second half against Multnomah, and the Mountaineers completed the season sweep over the Lions, 2-0, on Friday night.
"We struggled to find a rhythm tonight, and the Multnomah goalie was exceptional," said head men's soccer coach Stan Rodrigues. "I am proud that my guys dug deep and found a way to win. Fredy and Alex [Rene] were consistent threats, and Alfredo was solid as well."
Key Performances
Two freshmen got the job done for EOU, as midfielders Jesus Trejo and Rene Gutierrez both scored in the second half to lift the Mountaineers to a 2-0 victory.
As a team, the Navy and Gold outshot the Lions, 32-8.
In the box, junior keeper Alfredo Lara tallied four saves en route to earning his first victory of the 2015 campaign.
