Softball Weekly Notes: Sixth Edition

Pink and Senior Day
This Friday's doubleheader against Oregon Tech the Eastern Oregon  University Mountaineers will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Game. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. On Saturday against Southern Oregon the Mountaineers will be honoring the seniors of the 2014 softball team.  
 
Scouting the Opponents
Oregon Tech

The Owls of Oregon Tech come into this week with a 20-6 overall record and a record of 13-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Currently the owls sit in first place in the CCC. Before coming to La Grande for Friday's tilt with the Mountaineers, Oregon Tech will play at Walla Walla University on Thursday evening. Leading the Owls offensive attack is Tori Weatherford, who is hitting .420 on the season with six homeruns and 37 runs batted in on the season. On the mound, Oregon Tech is led by Jessi Duncan who has a 9-2 record and an earn run average of 1.87 in 63.2 innings pitched. Cassidy Olson follows with a 3.53 ERA and leads the team innings pitched with 83.1.
Southern Oregon
Southern Oregon University Raiders enter this weekend with a 10-10 overall record and a 9-3 mark in the CCC. The Raiders currently hold a slight edge over Concordia for second place in the CCC. Southern Oregon enters the weekend on a two game winning streak after defeating Corban, 14-6 and 8-7, on April 7. Julie Willison leads the Raiders as she is hitting .428 on the season with a team high two home runs. She has also collected 12 RBIs on the season. Brianne Craig leads the pitching staff with a 2.79 record and a 4-3 record. She has appeared in 10 games while starting six of those games. Craig has pitched 42.2 innings this season.
 
Hitting Streak
During the 2014 season, Eastern Oregon has had two players, Gracie Flyg and Brittnee Carman-Rice, record a team high six game hitting streak. Currently, Mariebeth Watanabe is on a five game hitting streak, which is the third longest on the team.
 
Multiple Hit Games
Eastern Oregon players have recorded 39 multiple hit contests this season. Leading the way is Mariebeth Watanabe, who has 10 multi hit games. She has six, two hit games, three, three hit games and has the only four hit game on the season for a Mountaineer.
 
Last Week
Last weekend the Mountaineers scheduled was shifted as weather played a major factor in the weekend. On Saturday the Mountaineers squared off against Concordia in what was supposed to be a doubleheader but only one game was completed. The first game against the Cavaliers, Mother Nature played a huge role as the game had two rain delays. Concordia defeated EOU, 8-3. The Mountaineers rebounded on Sunday when Northwest came to town. The Mountaineers recorded its second conference sweep of the season when the Mountaineers defeated the Eagles, 2-1 and 5-4. After the Sunday sweep Eastern Oregon came back and played a 9 a.m. contest against Concordia, which was the makeup came that was postponed on Saturday. Eastern Oregon edged the Cavaliers on Monday morning, 3-2.
