Click Here Last weekThe past week the Mountaineers played 10 games in eight days. Over the stretch the Mountaineers finished 5-5. The Mountaineers stepped out of conference play and defeated NCAA Division III Lewis & Clark in the Mountaineers home opener and then traveled to NCAA Division III Whitworth and split a doubleheader with the Pirates. In the three Cascade Collegiate Conference games EOU had, the Mountaineers went 2-4 with a doubleheader sweep of Northwest Christian but were swept by College of Idaho and Corban.
Walla WallaTonight's contest marks the first of three doubleheaders against Walla Walla this season. EOU will travel to Walla Walla tonight before hosting them on Sunday April 6. The Mountaineers conclude its three game set with the Wolves on April 15. Tonight's game will be the first game against a four year institution this season.
Scouting the Opponents
ConcordiaThe Cavaliers enter this contest with a record of 16-12 and 8-2 in CCC action. The Cavaliers split its last double header on March 26 to NCAA Division II St. Martin's. The Cavaliers currently have an eight game conference winning streak as they have not dropped a conference game since March 14 when College of Idaho swept the Cavaliers. Leading the Cavaliers is Meghan Luebbert with a .437 batting average. Taylor Copher leads the team with 19 RBIs on the season. On the mound, Concordia has two pitcher with earned run averages under three. Lucy Baldovino leads the team with a 1.63 ERA while McKenzie Marshall follows with an 2.45 ERA. Opponents are only hitting .192 off Baldovino this season.
NorthwestThe Eagles come into CCC action this weekend with a 1-15 overall record and 1-9 in conference action. The lone win for the Eagles came against EOU earlier this season when the Mountaineers and Eagles split a doubleheader in Kirkland, Wash. Northwest is led by Hanna Chaffin, who is hitting .375 in 12 games this season. She has an on base percentage of .444 to lead the team. Kierston Perry leads the team with 10 runs driven in on the season. On the Mount the Perry leads the team with an ERA of 6.62 on the season. However Kelli Peckham has the only win for the Eagles. Opponents are hitting .342 off Northwest pitching this season.
Previously This SeasonEastern Oregon has faced the Cavaliers and Eagles earlier this season the road. The Mountaineers opened up its conference season splitting a doubleheader against Northwest as EOU won game one, 6-4, before falling in the night cap 8-7. The next day the Mountaineers traveled to Portland to face Concordia. The Cavaliers swept the Mountaineers, 9-1 and 11-0.
Busy Weekend AheadAfter the Tuesday evening games with Walla Walla, the Mountaineers will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Peggy Anderson Field. EOU will host Concordia on Friday, Northwest on Saturday and Walla Walla on Sunday.
Last Home SeriesThe last home games scheduled for Eastern Oregon University comes on April 11 and 12th. The Mountaineers conclude its home schedule by hosting Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon.
