Click Here First National Championship AppearanceEOU has advanced to their first ever NAIA Volleyball National Championship, the national office announced Sunday. Eastern Oregon received the sixth At-Large selection to make their first ever National Championship appearance. EOU is one of four Cascade Collegiate Conference schools to qualify. Along with EOU, Southern Oregon, College of Idaho and Concordia have advanced to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
Looking at MenloThe Oaks of Menlo College come into the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round with a 17-10 record. They qualified by earning the California Pacific Conference's automatic berth by winning their conference tournament. This is Menlo's fifth trip to the national championship with their last appearance coming last season. The Oaks are 0-4 all-time during the national championship. Leading the Oaks is Courntey Calicdan, who was named Cal-Pac Player of the Year. Calicdan has recorded 470 kills on the season and ranks fourth national with kills per set (4.90). Earlier this season Calicdan, recorded her 1,000 career kill and is only the second player in Menlo history to accomplish that feat. Kelly Sung and Courtney Wong were named Second Team All-Conference and Bailey Gamze, Renn Isobe and Jamie Nurenberg were named Honorable Mention. Head Coach, Atlee Frechette was named Co-Coach of the Year. In last year's opening round matchup, the Oaks were defeated by Westmont (Calif.), 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 23-25, 14-25).

Kaki McLean Morehead have been named Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Player of the Year, Libero of the Year and Coach of the Year and
Rachelle Chamberlain was named First Team All-CCC, the CCC office announced Monday morning. For the second consecutive season, Loper has been named Player of the Year and earned First Team All-CCC honors. Loper a 5-10 senior middle hitter from Powell Butte, Ore., finished the year as one of the top offensive performers in the conference, leading Eastern to its first conference regular season title in school history. In her final year, Loper ended the season as the conference leader in attacking percentage at .344 percent and in total kills with 409, an average of 4.17 kills per set. Smith was awarded conference Defensive Specialist/Libero of the Year and First Team All-CCC selection. Smith, a 5-foot-6 senior libero from Boise, Idaho, led all Cascade Conference players with 5.54 digs per set, totaling 587 on the year.
Morehead was named the Coach of the Year after leading her team to a first place finish in the season standings and their fourth consecutive playoff berth with a 26-4 overall record, going 16-2 in conference. Morehead also brought the Mountaineers their first ever appearance in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship. Chamberlain also earned First Team All-Conference honors. She led the Mountaineers with 1,165 assists on the season. Chamberlain is the first Mountaineer to record over 1,000 assists in a single season. She ranks fourth in the nation in assists per set averaging 11.2.

Kills RecordOn Friday night in the CCC Semifinals,
Casey Loper broke the single season kill record at Eastern Oregon. Currently, Loper has recorded 409 on the season. The previous mark was set in 1992 by Becky Aldred with 397.
Winner Advances to Final SiteThe winner of the Saturday nights matchup will advance to the 2014 NAIA Volleyball National Championship, presented by J&L Enterprises. The Final site will take place in Sioux City, Iowa.
