Eastern Drops Doubleheader to C of I

Caldwell, Idaho – The Eastern Oregon University Softball team fell in a double header to College of Idaho 5-3 and 6-1 at Symms Field.
 
In game one, Stephanie Maestretti hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the 7th to put the Mountaineers (11-24, 2-16 CCC)  on the board bringing them within two. With two outs the Mountaineers struck out looking to end the game. Sarah Jackson went 1 for 2 from the plate while teammate Cassie Wendt went 1 for 3 from the plate.
 
Ashley Van Horne also recorded a three-run home run for the Yotes (22-20, 8-10), while Hannah Johnson went 1 for 2 from the plate with 1 RBI.
In game two, the Mountaineers would get on the scoreboard first as Gracie Flyg singled to left field to bring Mariebeth Watanbe home from second. From then on it was all the Yotes as they would score 6 unanswered runs to give them a 6-1 victory over the Mountaineers.
 
Gracie Flyg led the Mountaineers going 2 for 4 from the plate with 1 RBI. Rachel Hatzell went 2 for 3 from the plate.
 
Rachael Strong led the Yotes going 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's while teammate Katie Rowe went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.
 
The Mountaineers will be in action again this Friday and Saturday as they take on Corban and Northwest Christian University. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
