Ashland, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon University softball team (11-22, 2-14 CCC) split games this afternoon against Southern Oregon University (14-15, 10-6 CCC) 2-12 and 6-5.

The first game began with a homerun over center field by EOU's Sarah Jackson scoring herself and teammate Katie Martell with two outs in the top of the first inning.  Heading into the bottom of the first ahead by two runs, the Mountaineers could not hold Southern Oregon.  The Raiders ended the inning scoring eight runs off of a series of singles and a triple by Lauren Keel.

The Mountaineers would be held scoreless as the Raiders continued to tack on runs, reaching a score of 12-2 at the bottom of the fourth inning.  At the top of the fifth, Eastern couldn't find a way to score as the game ended midway through the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

During the second game, Eastern answered back.  Southern would score first with two runs at the bottom of the first inning and another in the third.  EOU entered the top of the fourth with strong bats as Tailor Snow doubled to left center, scoring teammates Gracie Flyg and Jackson closing the gap 2-5.

The Mountaineers held SOU scoreless for the remainder of the game as they continued to score runs.  In the fifth inning, freshman Flyg scored teammate Martell off of a single to left field.  Cassie Wendt would add another two runs in the sixth inning with a double to right field, tying the score 5-5 with two outs.  With Wendt on third, Martell singled to right field allowing her to score and giving Eastern the lead.  After a pitching change, Jackson would strike out as the Mountaineers headed back to the dugout ahead, 6-5.

Eastern's defense would lead them to a victory as they held the Raiders scoreless for the remainder of the ball game.
