Yotes Hold Off Mountaineers

La Grande, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon softball team dropped a doubleheader to College of Idaho, 2-4 and 0-2, this afternoon at Peggy Anderson Field.
 
In the opener, Maestretti's homerun in the bottom of the 6th gave the Mountaineers (12-26, 3-18 CCC) a 2-0 lead.  
 
The Yotes (26-21, 12-11 CCC) would tie the game in the top of the 7th on a throwing error by Eastern, and hold the Mountaineers scoreless in the bottom of the 7th to force extra innings.
 
C of I's Gabiola would homer in the 8th inning with 1 on giving the Yotes a 4-2 lead.  The Yotes would hold the Mountaineers scoreless in their final at bat giving the Yotes a 4-2 victory
 
College of Idaho's Paige Gabiola went 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 RBI's. Alexis Macias went 2 for 4 from the plate.
 
Eastern's Stephanie Maestretti went 1 for 1 at the plate with 1 RBI while teammate Alex Hillmick went 2 for 4 at the plate.
 
In the second game, the Yotes' Ashley Van Horne doubled to center field in the 6th inning scoring Hannah Johnson and Molly Mills.  Van Horne's 2 RBI's would be the only runs in the game, as the Yotes would sweep the Mountaineers.
 
Hillmick went 1 for 3 at the plate for EOU while teammate Gracie Flyg went 1 for 2.
 
The Mountaineers will be in action again this Friday and Saturday April 19th  and 20th as they host Concordia and Northwest Christian. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday. Live stats will be available at EOUSports.com.
