EOU Loses to Southern Oregon

La Grande, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University softball team fell to Southern Oregon University 8-0 and 5-3 in a double-header at Peggy Anderson field.
 
In the first game, the Mountaineers (7-7, 0-2 CCC) held the Raiders scoreless until the top of the 4th when Southern recorded 3 runs. The Raiders would then score 1 run in the 6th and 4 in the 7th to give them an 8-0 victory.
 
Junior Rachel Hatzell led the Mountaineers at the plate going 3 for 3. Freshman Gracie Flyg went 1 for 3 at the plate.
 
Southern was led by Steph Vandenbusch who hit a homerun going 1 for 2 at the plate and 3 RBI's. Jessica Flores went 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI's
 
 In game two, SOU opened strong and held on to the lead to take a 5-3 victory despite a late game surge by the Mountaineers.
 
Cassie Wendt led the Mountaineers going 3 for 4 from the plate, which included a homerun in the bottom of the 7th. Sarah Jackson went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.
 
SOU's Vanderbusch went 2 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI while teammate Kara Kelsey went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.
 
The Mountaineers will be in action again tomorrow at Peggy Anderson Stadium as they take on Oregon Tech in a double header. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
