Cavailers Defeat Mountaineers

Portland, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Softball team fell to Concordia University this afternoon in a double header, 0-8 and 1-2.
 
The Mountaineers (8-6, 1-11 CCC) held the Cavaliers (24-9, 10-4 CCC) scoreless until the 3rd inning when the Cavailers scored twice followed by six more runs in the ensuing inning. 
 
Eastern struggled from the plate in the first game as they only recorded two hits.  EOU's Rachel Hatzell went 1 for 2 from the plate while Mariebeth Watanabe went 1 for 3.
 
The Cavaliers were led by Kate Santos who went 2 for 3 from the plate with 3 RBI's and 2 homeruns.  Robin Gawlista went 2 for 3 from the plate with 2 RBI's.
 
In the second game, Concordia took an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning but EOU followed  with a run in the 4th.  Unfortunately, the Mountaineers wouldn't score again as they dropped their sixth game in a row, 1-2.
 
Alex Hillmick led the Mountaineers going 1 for 3 from the plate with 1 RBI. Cassie Wendt went 1 for 3 as well and had EOUs' only run.
 
Katie Aden went 2 for 2 from the plate with 1 RBI for Concordia while teammate Tobey Varney went 1 for 2 from the plate with 1 RBI.
 
The Mountaineers will be in action next week as they travel to Great Falls, Mont. to take on the University of Great Falls. Game time is scheduled for 2 P.M. MT
