Northwest Steals Two From Eastern

Portland, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University softball team fell to Northwest University Eagles in a double header this afternoon by a score of 1-2 in both games.
 
In the first game Northwest (4-20, 2-10 CCC) scored both of their runs in the 3rd inning. The Mountaineers would answer back in the fourth with a run of their own. Going into the 7th inning EOU trailed 2-1 but got runners on 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out but couldn't convert and lost 1-2.
 
EOU's Katie Martell led the Mountaineers (8-14, 1-9 CCC) going 1 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI. Mariebeth Watanabe also went 1 for 3 at the plate and scored EOU's only run.
 
The Eagles were led by Lauren Robinson who went  2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI's. Teammate Sarah Payne went 2 for 3 at the plate.
 
Game 2
 
Tied 1-1 after 7 innings, the second game would go into extra innings. Four innings later the Eagles would score in the bottom of the 11th to take a 2-1 victory.
 
EOU's Georgianna Kelly went 1 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI while Gracie Flyg went 2 for 4 and had EOU's only run.
 
Northwest's Payne went 3 for 5 at the plate with 1 RBI while teammate Hannah Ganfield went 1 for 5 with 1 RBI.
 
The Mountaineers will be in action again tomorrow as they take on Concordia University in Portland. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
