Box Score 3 REDDING, Calif. – The Eastern Oregon University softball team opened its 2012 season with a 1-0 win at Simpson University Friday.

Emily Anderson hit a home run and
Alex Hillmick threw a complete game allowing four hits in the first game of the day. The Redhawks are currently receiving votes in the national poll.
Along with her no earned runs and four allowed hits, Hillmick struck out three batters and walked another in seven innings.
Anderson broke the scoreless game with the solo home run in the sixth inning.
Cassie Wendt was 1-for-3 with a double.
Ashli Hughes-Hayden had two steals.
In the second game of the day, No. 11 Azusa Pacific used 12 hits to score eight runs in a shutout win over EOU.
Sarah Jackson had a triple and
Lacey Price had a steal for the Mountaineers.
Kayla Anderson was credited with the loss. She finished with seven strikeouts and no walks.
In the day's final game, Eastern used three RBI from Jackson to power past Biola, 6-1. The Hawks are receiving votes in the national poll as well. Jackson was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a stolen base.
Abby Barr recorded the win. She allowed six hits, no walks and no earned runs in seven innings. Barr struck out five batters.
Hughes-Hayden had two RBI.
Emily Anderson and Wendt each went 2-for-4. Price had a steal in the win.
Eastern Oregon returns to the field Saturday for three more games at the Simpson Invitational. EOU faces William Jessup at 9 a.m., Concordia-Irvine at 2 p.m. and Holy Names at 4:30 p.m.
