Box Score La Grande, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team defeated Whitman College, in overtime, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup, 67-58.
Jorie Freeman led Eastern with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Kelsea Hurlimann also added 15 points and 4 rebounds while
Nicole Redd and
Brooke Randall chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively.
The Missionaries were led by Sarah Anderegg and Heather Lovelace with 14 points a piece. Meghan White recorded a double double on the night with 11 points and 10 rebounds
The Mountaineers trailed at half 22-27, shooting just 23% (7-for-30) in an evenly matched first half. The Mountaineers continued to trail midway through the second half 36-45, but responded with a late game comeback tying the game at 50 with just under a minute to play to force overtime.
In overtime the Mountaineers were able to get the stops they needed. Eastern would score 17 points in overtime and hold the Athletics to only 8 points.
The Mountaineers finished the game shooting 33% (22-for-66) from the field compared to 34% (23-for-67) for the Missionaries.
