No. 9 Nationally Ranked EOU Ties Best Start in 82 Year History

Helena, Mont. – The Eastern Oregon Men's basketball team leaves Montana with another win beating Montana Tech. tonight, 77-60 in the Carroll College Classic. Tonight's win ties the schools record for the best start in the schools 82-year history.
 
The scoring was balanced for the Mountaineers (9-0, 0-0 CCC) with four players scoring in double digits. Junior transfer Tony Eackles Jr. and Red shirt freshmen Kalvin Johansen lead EOU with 13 points apiece, while junior Kyllian Wood and senior Jason Mumm chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively. 
 
In the first half the Mountaineers were led by Mumm's 9 points, shooting 3 of 5 from behind the arc. Junior transfer Michael Crane chipped in with 6 points at half connecting on two big shots from downtown. The Mountaineers took a 36-29 lead into half shooting 46% from the field.
 
Montana Tech (3-2) was able to keep the game close as they connected on 50% of their shots from downtown, 4 of 8, and shot 11 of 27 from the field.
 
In the second half the Mountaineers would pull away late in the game behind Wood's 10-point spurt.  Wood, came off the bench and connected on 4 of 5 shots and grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds for EOU in 16 minutes of play. The Mountaineers outrebounded the Orediggers 43-38.
 
Adam Greger led all scorers' with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Quinn Smith recorded a double-double on the night with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Eastern will look to set the record for the best start to a season in school history Tuesday November 20th, at Quinn Coliseum as they take on Walla Walla University. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
