KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University softball team was swept at Oregon Tech Saturday, 8-0 and 8-0.
On Senior Day at OIT (29-8, 15-3 Cascade Collegiate Conference), the No. 17 Lady Owls honored their four seniors with the sweep. In the first game, Tech's Jackie Imhof struck out 12 Mountaineers, including 10 in a row at one time.
Eastern's
Ashli Hughes broke up Imhof's perfect game with a single in the fifth inning. Oregon Tech's Janelle Cromie hit a Grand Slam in the third inning for the Owls Game highlight.
Oregon Tech had seven hits, while EOU had Hughes' lone hit. The Mountaineers committed three errors, compared to the Lady Owls zero. Imhoff improved to 14-4 and has now struck-out 157 batters in just 120 innings.
Jennifer McDonnell and
Suzie Espinoza each pitched for Eastern Oregon. The Mountaineer pitching duo struck out five batters and walked four others.
In the second game, Oregon Tech hit four home runs. Taylor Schmidt through a complete game for the Owls allowing two infield hits while striking out five EOU batters to improve to 15-3 on the season.
Oregon Tech jumped out to an early lead after back to back home runs in the first inning as Ashleigh Larson hit her 11th and Jess Plummer hit her ninth to give the Lady Owls a 3-0 advantage. OIT leads the CCC with 42 homeruns on the season.
Espinoza and McDonnell pitched again for the Mountaineers in Game 2. Eastern allowed seven hits and walked two Tech batters. EOU left two runners on base, while the Owls left one.
The Mountaineers travel to Ashland Sunday for their next game. Eastern Oregon's doubleheader at Southern Oregon begins at 11 a.m.
