LA GRANDE, Ore. -- The latest edition of the game notes for Eastern Oregon University women's basketball is available now. The Mountaineers welcome Corban University and Northwest Christian University this weekend. It's Pink Night Friday and Senior Night Saturday.

THE SERIES
* Corban and Eastern met in the CCC tournament in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2010.
* Eastern Oregon was 3-1 in those games and 30-15 all-time over the Warriors.
* The Mountaineers are 11-4 against Corban since 2000.
* EOU won seven straight over the Warriors before falling in January in Salem.
* Northwest Christian beat EOU for the first time in January and is 1-6 all-time versus Eastern.
* The average score in the six Eastern wins has been 71-53 in EOU's favor.
* Only three ganes have been decided by under 10 points.
* Eastern is 13-2 versus the Willamette Valley CCC schools in the last 15 games.

ABOUT THE LADY WARRIORS
The Warriors (15-10, 10-5) average nearly 75 points a game, utilizing their size at the wings to cause match-up problems. Katie Steigleman (19.0 ppg, 5.9 rpg) is the go-to player for Terry Williams' bunch, while post Tess Bennett (13.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and wing Jennesa Miller (11.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg) have provided a serious boost for the team during the last four weeks, helping Corban to six wins in eight games. Corban broke a seven game win streak for the Mountaineers with a win in Salem in January.

ABOUT THE BEACONS
The Beacons (10-15, 6-9 CCC) had won 5-of-6 before dropping back-to-back home games to Concordia and Warner Pacific. NCU is paced offensively by guards Sheena Alexander (12.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg) and Lindsey Shearer (10.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg), along with post Hope Williams (12.3 ppg, 8.4 rpg), while defensively, the squad forces 21 turnovers a game. Northwest Christian maybe the surprise of the conference after it knocked off three of the top five teams in the league so far this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team knocked off its rival, The College of Idaho, behind a 20-point and 12-rebound performance from Rosebud Guthrie, 69-57. The Mountaineers were paced by Guthrie's third career double-double. The Zillah, Wash. native scored a career-high 20 points on 8 of 17 shooting from the field. Kyle Miller and Samantha Flett added 16 points and 15 points. EOU finished 40 percent from the field, 7 for 16 from behind the perimeter, and 18 of 24 from the free-throw line. The Yotes shot 39 percent from the field, 6 of 16 from three-point range, and 7 for 14 from the free-throw line. The Mountaineers had a 45-25 rebounding advantage over C of I. EOU threw 17 assists to The College of Idaho's 12. Eastern committed 12 turnovers, while the Yotes had 10.

GUTHRIE GUIDING EASTERN
Sophomore Rosebud Guthrie is having a breakout season, especially of late. The Zillah, Wash. native has scored 129 points the last 10 games, an average of 12.9 points an outing. The last four games Guthrie has shot 29 of 40 from the field and averaged 16.75 points. She has grabbed 32 boards in those four games.

LONG DISTANCE SPECIALISTS
The Mountaineers are second in the nation in three-point percentage shooting 39 percent from behind the perimeter. EOU is 11th in NAIA Div. 2 holding opponents to 27 percent shooting from behind the arc. Eastern has won its games by an average of 12.9 points. Eastern Oregon is averaging 9.0 three pointers per game, which is eighth in NAIA Div. 2. Kelsea Hurliman is sixth in the country in three-point field goal percentage hitting 44 percent of her shots.

UNSELFISH MOUNTIES

Eastern is 11th in NAIA Div. 2 averaging 16.9 assists per game. The Mountaineers have dished out 384 assists this year. EOU has a turnover margin of +1.95 and is 10th in the country in assist to turnover ratio. Alyssa Garro is ninth in the country in assist to turnover margin.

EASTERN TO HONOR TRIO
Eastern Oregon is honoring three seniors who are playing their final regular season games in Quinn Coliseum this weekend. Samantha Flett, Alyssa Garro, and Shaylee Nielsen are all seniors and will honored on Senior Night Saturday against Northwest Christian. The three have played in a combined 211 games for the Mountaineers. The trio of guards have scored a total of 1,261 points and thrown 379 assists for EOU.

DEADLY DEFENSE

Eastern has stymied its opponents in 2010-11. Only three opponents have shot over 50 percent from the field in a game versus the Mountaineers. It's No. 11 NAIA Div. 2 defense from behind the perimeter highlights the EOU defensive honors. The Mountaineers are giving up an average of 59 points per game, the 18th best in the nation. Eastern is first in in the CCC three-point defense field goal percentage (.272), and is second in points allowed per game (59.5), and in field goal percentage defense (.383).

CRAZY CONFERENCE

The Cascade Collegiate Conference has had six teams appear in the NAIA Div. 2 Top 25 rating at sometime this season. That's more than any other conference in the nation. After beginning the season as the preseason favorite, The College of Idaho, was ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll. Concordia took their place in the first rating and was joined by Eastern Oregon in the second ranking, as EOU was No. 24. No team has climbed higher than Concordia's No. 15 rating. Northwest is currently the lone CCC team in the poll at No. 16. Corban and Concordia are each receiving votes.
