EOU Gets Back on Winning Track

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University volleyball team swept Walla Walla University Saturday in a non-conference match, 3-0.

The Mountaineers (10-7, 8-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference) rebounded after their first loss in 10 matches Friday to The College of Idaho.

Lilia Najera led EOU with a match-high eight kills. Emily Sampson and Jessica Lea had 18 and 10 assists. Sampson added 10 digs. Eastern had a .400 to -.104 hitting percentage advantage. The Mountaineers also had a 37-11 kill advantage, and a 32-11 assists lead.

Eastern dominated the match and never surrendered the lead. The match featured four ties, all in the second set.

Heather McFadden led the Wolves (5-14) with four kills. Kelsie Schafer finished with 10 assists and Natalie Wilkening recorded six digs.

The Mountaineers welcome Northwest Christian University Friday for their next match.
