LA GRANDE, Ore. – The No. 12 Southern Oregon University volleyball team left Eastern Oregon University with a 3-1 victory Saturday.
In a match that featured 34 ties and 15 lead changes, the Mountaineers (10-7) (6-5) battled back-and-forth with SOU.
The Raiders bounced back from its first conference loss Friday at The College of Idaho with a 25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-19 victory at EOU. Southern defeated Eastern on Sept. 10 in Ashland in four sets as well.
The Mountaineers were led by a 24-assist and 16 kill performance from
Jessica Lea.
Emily Sampson finished with 20 assists and
Kaitlyn Duncan had 24 digs.
Taylor Stewart added 13 kills.
Sarah Holgen and Leanne Stennett both turned in double-doubles for the Raiders. Holgen finished with 15 kills and 13 digs, while Stennett had 15 kills and 16 digs. Megan Bartling turned in 14 kills and four of SOU's 15 blocks.
Lindsey Stone finished with a match-high 51 assists and also four blocks. Becky Johnstone had 19 digs.
Southern Oregon (13-3) (10-1) held EOU to a .000 attack percentage in the third set and a .139 attack percentage in the fourth set after the teams split the first two sets.
Eastern travels to Northwest Christian and Corban University Friday and next Saturday for its next matches.
