KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Oregon Men's Soccer remained in the national conversation, receiving votes in the latest
STADIONIC NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
Since the previous poll, the Mountaineers competed across the Midwest, posting a 0-1-2 record during their countable preseason schedule. EOU opened with a 2-2 draw against No. 3 Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana, before traveling to Michigan, where they fell 3-1 to (RV) Spring Arbor University. The Mountaineers closed out their Midwest trip in Lima, Ohio, earning a 1-1 draw against Northwestern Ohio.
Through the early portion of the season,
Henry Lopez leads the Mountaineers with two goals and one assist, while also pacing the team with 13 shot attempts and five shots on goal.
Davyd Fedina and
Christian Samayoa have each added one goal, while
JJ Gallardo has contributed one assist. In goal,
Victor Melendez has appeared in two games, recording nine saves with a .643 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average.
The Cascade Conference was also represented in the latest poll, with Warner Pacific moving to the No. 25 spot, while Rocky Mountain and Southern Oregon received votes.
The Mountaineers now turn their attention to Cascade Conference play, opening league competition at home this weekend against Walla Walla University and No. 25 Warner Pacific.
