LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Men's and Women's Track and Field will head to Gainesville, Florida this weekend, March 5th - March 7th for the 61st Annual Indoor Track & Field National Championship, held at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center.
Eastern Oregon will send a combined roster of 19 athletes—ten women and nine men—to compete across sprints, middle distance, field events, multis, and relays in a national field that features more than 1,100 competitors. With strong rankings in several events and multiple athletes entering the meet in scoring position, the Mountaineers arrive poised to make an impact over the three-day championship.
On the women's side,
Kaliyah Chronister leads the Mountaineers in the pentathlon, entering the meet ranked 14th nationally with 3,323 points.
Riley Morris holds one of the program's top national positions, sitting ninth in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:54.44. In the sprints,
Sara McKen comes in ranked 11th in the 60 meters after running 7.54 seconds – a program record – this season, while
Nora Roscoe will represent Eastern Oregon in the 200 meters with a qualifying mark of 24.94.
Carlee Jensen will compete individually in the 800 meters and also play a key role in the Mountaineers' 4x800 relay. That relay group—Jensen,
Mattie Woodbury,
Kennedy Taylor,
Sydney Peck, and
Riley Morris—enters the national meet ranked 12th with a time of 9:20.23. Eastern Oregon will also field a 4x400 relay team consisting of Halee Hisler,
Taylor Joyce,
Nora Roscoe, and Sarah McKen, with
Sydney Peck listed as the alternate. The squad enters the championship ranked 14th in the nation after posting a time of 3:53.11.
The men's team is highlighted by multi-event standout
Justin Krabbenhoft, who arrives at nationals as the top-ranked heptathlete in the NAIA. Krabbenhoft leads the field with 5,465 points, holding a 65-point advantage over the next closest competitor and positioning himself as a major contender for a national title.
In the field events,
Mark Church enters the weight throw ranked eighth nationally after recording a mark of 61 feet, 7 inches. Eastern Oregon will also have strong representation in the pole vault, where
Sawyer Dean sits sixth nationally with a clearance of 4.86 meters and
Stephen Pittman is tied for 11th with a mark of 4.80 meters.
On the track,
Cristian Mendoza will compete in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:30.55 that ranks 36th nationally. The Mountaineers will also rely on their depth in the 4x400 relay, where
Keaton Moore,
Peter Daniels,
Osman Osman, and
Reuben Manzer enter the championship ranked second in the nation with a time of 3:11.86. Osman will additionally compete in the 400 meters, while Manzer will run the 600 meters, where he holds the 15th-best time nationally at 1:19.76.
With multiple athletes ranked among the top contenders in their events, Eastern Oregon heads into the national championship looking to translate strong regular-season performances into podium finishes on the sport's biggest NAIA indoor stage.
