SPOKANE, Wash. – On Day Two of the Whitworth Indoor Invitational, the Eastern Oregon Track and Field team continued its record-setting momentum, highlighted by three school records, 20 additions to the EOU Top 25 list, more than 20 personal bests, two event titles, and two new NAIA "A" standards, and one new NAIA "B" Standard.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Sara McKen broke her own school record in the 60m dash prelims, becoming the first Mountie woman to run sub-7.60 with a 7.59. She returned in the final against a strong to place fourth among Division 1 competitors, breaking her record again, and hitting the NAIA "A" standard with a 7.54.
- Taylor Joyce shaved .02 off her personal best, moving to No. 9 all-time at EOU with a 7.92 in the 60m dash.
- Sydney Peck delivered a school record breaking performance in the 60m hurdles by running 8.88 seconds in the finals.
- Also in the 60mhurdles Aliviah Mode placed seventh in 9.43, moving to No. 12 on the EOU all-time list.
- After Kennedy Taylor entered the all-time list at No. 25 for the 800m last week, Sydney Peck briefly claimed the spot by less than a tenth of a second—until Mattie Woodbury, in the next heat, ran 2:21.94 to take over No. 17 and bump Peck down.
- Melanie Boatman surged from No. 15 to No. 6 all-time with a personal-best 25.49, while Hallee Hisler improved from No. 21 to No. 17 with a 26.20 in the 200m.
- In the 3000m, Kiah Carlson trimmed nearly a second off her PR to remain No. 16 all-time in 10:56.17. Taylor Redick cut more than four seconds off her previous best, moving up to No. 22 all-time in 11:05.97.
- At the Husky Classic in Seattle, Riley Morris dropped 23.16 seconds from her previous mile PR, shattered the school record by 10.12 seconds, and surpassed the NAIA "A" standard with a 4:53.34 performance.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- In the 60m dash, Nick Robinson moved to No. 3 all-time at EOU with a PR of 6.87. Peter Daniels shaved .01 off his PR, holding steady at No. 11 with a 7.03.
- Justin Krabbenhoft cleared a 20-centimeter (8-inch) PR in the pole vault at 4.65m to win the event, tying for No. 12 all-time at EOU and ranking No. 21 in the NAIA.
- Carsten Volkers clocked 8.91 in the 60m hurdles (No. 20 EOU all-time) and 51.56 in the 400m (No. 22 EOU all-time).
- Nathan King entered EOU's Top 25 in the 400m, tying for No. 24 with a 51.61.
- Jayce Bartley lowered his indoor PR in the 200m to 22.19, but shifted from No. 4 to No. 5 EOU all-time as Nick Robinson continued his rise, claiming the new No. 4 spot at 22.13.
- Also in the 200m, Bryson Spears moved from No. 11 to tie for No. 10 at 22.63, while Logan Tate joined EOU's Top 25 at No. 17 with a 22.92.
- Nathan Wachs captured the event title in the high jump with a clearance of 1.95m.
- The 4x400m relay team of Peter Daniels, Rueben Manzer, Keaton Moore, and Osman Osman improved their NAIA "B" standard and moved to No.2 at EOU behind a strong last leg push from Osman for a final time of 3:16.88.
The Eastern Oregon Track & Field teams return to action Friday, February 20, hosting the EOU Last Chance Invite at the EOU Fieldhouse.
