SPOKANE, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon University track and field team opened competition at the Whitworth Indoor Invitational with a strong showing, highlighted by event wins and record-book performances on Day One.
In the 300m, Halee Hisler claimed first place in 41.382, edging teammate
Melanie Boatman, who crossed just milliseconds later in 41.388. Kaliyah Chronsiter added to the team's success with a fourth-place finish in 42.62.
Kaleah Hines delivered a standout performance in the 5000m, winning the event in 18:12.39 while breaking her own No. 3 mark on EOU's all-time list by more than 31 seconds.
In the field events,
Taylor Joyce placed sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.12m, narrowly missing her own No. 7 all-time mark at EOU.
Dylan Buss recorded a 14.36m throw in the weight throw to finish seventh, just shy of a personal best while tying for No. 25 on EOU's all-time list.
Michael Pedrick finished 21st in the weight throw with a mark of 12.32m – a personal best.
The Mountaineers also impressed in the distance medley relay action. The women's quartet of
Sadie McCoy (1200),
Nora Roscoe (400),
Carlee Jensen (800), and
Mattie Woodbury (1600) captured first place in 12:27.34, a time that ranks No. 14 in the NAIA and No. 6 in program history. The finish was highlighted by impressive solo efforts anchored by an impressive 5:13.35 in the final 1600 from Woodbury. On the men's side,
Grady Greenwood,
Osman Osman,
James Thatcher, and
Thomas Ogden finished third in 10:22.72, ranking No. 29 nationally in the NAIA and No. 22 in EOU history.
