Mountaineers Down Northwest, 94–79

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University men's basketball team put together a complete performance Saturday afternoon, defeating Northwest University 94–79 inside Quinn Coliseum. The Mountaineers showcased balanced scoring, with five players reaching double figures in the home victory.

Eastern Oregon controlled much of the contest, using efficient shooting and steady defensive pressure to keep Northwest at bay throughout the game. The Mounties built momentum in both halves and pulled away late to secure the win.

The opening half saw Eastern Oregon establish an early rhythm on the offensive end. The Mountaineers shot efficiently from the field and from beyond the arc, building a 38–30 halftime lead while limiting Northwest's scoring opportunities. EOU's balanced attack kept the Eagles from finding sustained momentum.

Eastern Oregon continued its strong play in the second half, maintaining offensive pressure and stretching the lead with consistent shooting. The Mounties knocked down shots from all three levels and capitalized at the free-throw line, preventing Northwest from mounting a comeback. Eastern Oregon's efficiency proved to be the difference as the lead grew to double digits late in the game.

Eamon Monahan led the Mountaineers with 17 points, providing steady scoring throughout the contest. Keilan Torkornoo and Logan Orchard each added 15 points, while James Bodily chipped in 14 points, including three three-pointers. Cole Hammack rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, as Eastern Oregon finished the night shooting over 60 percent from the field.

Northwest was led by Logan Stempniak, who scored 18 points, while Lucius Fox added 15 points, but the Eagles were unable to match Eastern Oregon's offensive efficiency.

Eastern Oregon will return to action next week on Friday, February 13, traveling to Eugene, Oregon, to face Bushnell University at 5:00 p.m.
