Late Free Throws Lift Bushnell Past Mounties

EUGENE, Ore. – After controlling much of the contest, RV Eastern Oregon University Men's Basketball came up short in the closing seconds, falling 90–87 to Bushnell University. Five Mountaineers scored in double figures in the effort, led by a 24-point performance from Keilan Torkornoo

Eastern Oregon established its rhythm early, combining efficient offense with active defense to build a first-half advantage. The Mounties knocked down eight three-pointers, forced six turnovers that led to seven points, and nearly doubled Bushnell on the glass. Despite committing eight turnovers of their own, Eastern carried a 46–38 lead into halftime behind balanced scoring and strong execution on both ends.

Bushnell responded coming out of halftime, steadily chipping away at the Mounties lead. The Beacons heated up from the field, forced key turnovers, and capitalized on crucial possessions to apply steady pressure. The game tightened in the final minutes, with both teams trading big shots and physical defensive stands. Isaiah Jones electrified the crowd with a game-tying three-pointer from nearly 35 feet out in the closing moments. However, late fouls sent Bushnell to the free-throw line, where the Beacons converted to secure the three-point victory.

Eastern shot an impressive 50.8% from the field, including 13 three-pointers compared to Bushnell's five, and went 10-of-14 from the free-throw line. The difference came in Bushnell's 56.5 percent shooting clip and 15-of-19 performance at the stripe.

Torkornoo led the Mounties with 24 points on 64.2% shooting, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc and going 3-of-5 at the line. Eamon Monahan added 14 points with a block and a steal, while Jones finished with 13 points, including three from deep. James Bodily contributed 11 points with three three-pointers, and Porter Abrams rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Bushnell's Cory Johnson led the night with 32 points and 10 rebounds on 54.5% shooting, with a block and a steal. Kaleb Burnett added 23 points, 7 rebounds, and a steal on 52.9% shooting.

Eastern Oregon will return to action tomorrow evening in Salem, Ore., for its final regular-season road matchup against Corban University. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
