Salem, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University women's lacrosse struggled defensively and offensively on Saturday, falling 20-2 to powerhouse Willamette University at Sparks Field.
The Mountaineers found themselves in an early deficit as Willamette jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Eastern Oregon broke through in the fourth quarter when Gemma Gonzales scored the team's first goal of the match-up. Jade McCoy quickly followed with a second goal for the Mountaineers. However, EOU was limited to just six total shots in the game compared to Willamette's 34.
Goalkeeper Maddie Wicks recorded four saves in the loss. Willamette also controlled possession throughout the game, winning 15 draw controls to Eastern Oregon's nine.
The Mountaineers will look to regroup as they travel to Corvallis on Sunday for a match-up against Oregon State's club team.
