LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers RV Men's Basketball closed the regular season on a high note, defeating RV Oregon Tech Owls men's basketball 84-58 at Quinn Coliseum on senior night, securing a share of the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Regular Season Championship.
Prior to the start of the game, Eastern Oregon honored lone Senior
Trent Rogers for his contributions to the EOU Men's Basketball program.
The Mountaineers wasted no time asserting dominance, jumping out to a 46-28 lead by halftime. A key moment came midway through the first half when Eastern Oregon went on a 16-0 run, turning a tight contest into a commanding lead.
Eastern's balanced offense fueled the early surge. The Mountaineers shot 17-of-33 from the field in the first half, including six triples, and converted 6-of-8 free throws. Defensively, they limited Oregon Tech to just 10-of-23 shooting and one made three-pointer, forcing 13 free throws and holding the Owls to a halftime deficit of 18 points.
In the second half, Eastern Oregon continued to build momentum. A 7-0 run early in the half extended the lead, while Oregon Tech struggled to find offensive rhythm, shooting under 40% from the field in the half. Despite a slight dip in offensive efficiency, the Mountaineers' early lead and defensive pressure allowed them to maintain control and secure both the victory and the CCC Regular Season Co-Championship alongside Lewis-Clark State Warriors men's basketball, each finishing 16-4 in conference play.
The Mountaineers were led by senior
Trent Rogers, who scored 17 points, including four triples, and recorded a steal.
Eamon Monahan added 16 points, four assists, and a steal, while
James Bodily contributed 14 points, a block, and a steal.
Logan Orchard rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points and two steals.
Oregon Tech was paced by Colby Whicker with 12 points and five rebounds and Gylan Payne with 11 points and five rebounds.
With the win, Eastern Oregon finishes the regular season 21-7 overall and 16-4 in the CCC, positioning themselves for the postseason. The CCC Men's Basketball Tournament begins February 25, with the Mountaineers hosting Corban University at 7:30 PM inside Quinn Coliseum.
