Mountaineers Hold Off Raiders for 57-48 Win

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University No.14 Women's Basketball defeated Southern Oregon in an intense 57-48 game.

Eastern set the tone early in a defensive-minded opening frame. The Mountaineers established a slight edge by controlling the paint and limiting second-chance opportunities, building a 14-11 lead by the end of the quarter. Both teams worked through early shooting struggles, but EOU's defensive pressure created the separation.

The game remained tight in the second as both sides traded baskets. Southern Oregon made a push midway through the quarter, but Eastern responded with timely scoring and steady free-throw shooting. The Mountaineers maintained a narrow advantage heading into halftime, keeping momentum on their side in a physical contest.

Eastern came out of the break with renewed energy, tightening up defensively and finding more rhythm offensively. Key interior scoring and strong rebounding helped the Mountaineers gradually stretch their lead. While the Raiders stayed within striking distance, EOU controlled the tempo and limited transition chances.

With the game still within reach, Eastern delivered its most composed stretch of the night. The Mountaineers capitalized at the free-throw line and secured critical defensive stops down the stretch to prevent a Southern rally. Strong rebounding and disciplined possessions allowed EOU to close out the 57-48 victory.

Kali Kast led the Mountaineers in the other game with 12 points, seven rebounds, one block, and two steals. Raquel Fehringer chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, going a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, while Brinley Hagemeier added 10 points on 4-for-4 free throws.

Southern's Bridgette McIntyre contributed 15 points and six rebounds, hitting three from beyond the arc and recording two steals, while Eliza DiGiulio added 14 points and a steal.

Eastern Oregon is currently tied for first in the CCC Standings with Corban University at 15-4.

The Mountaineers will return to Quinn Coliseum tomorrow night, February 21, for the final CCC regular season matchup at 3:00 PM, in hopes of securing the regular season championship.
