LA GRANDE, Ore. – With a conference title on the line and Senior Night setting the stage, No. 14 Eastern Oregon Women's Basketball delivered a championship performance, defeating RV Oregon Tech 82-69 to secure a share of the CCC Regular Season Championship in front of a home crowd at Quinn Coliseum.
The night was made even more special as EOU honored its 2026 senior class —
Kaiea Waiwaiole,
Raquel Fehringer,
Maggie Smith,
Brinley Hagemeier, and
Kelsie Siegner — recognizing their contributions to the program.
The opening period reflected the intensity of the moment. Eastern and Oregon Tech traded baskets throughout, with EOU building a lead as large as five while the Owls briefly went up by three.
Oregon Tech shot an efficient 46.7% from the field in the quarter, keeping pace despite the Mountaineers controlling the glass 11-9. Both teams connected on just one three-pointer, but Eastern capitalized at the free-throw line, going 5-of-6. After ten minutes of back-and-forth play, the score was tied 14-14.
Eastern began to find its rhythm in the second. The Mountaineers outscored Oregon Tech 24-17 in the frame, raising their shooting percentage to 50% while knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Improved ball movement created quality looks, and EOU took advantage of trips to the free-throw line to stretch the lead.
By halftime, Eastern had built separation and carried momentum into the break.
The decisive stretch came in the third. Eastern outscored the Owls 28-22, using perimeter shooting and free throws to extend the lead into double digits. While Oregon Tech made one more field goal in the quarter, the Mountaineers were dominant from deep, hitting 5-of-8 from three-point range.
OIT fouls sent EOU to the stripe repeatedly, and the Mountaineers converted 7-of-8 attempts, compared to just 2-of-4 for the Owls. Eastern also controlled the boards again, outrebounding Oregon Tech 10-6 in the quarter to maintain control heading into the final period.
Oregon Tech pushed in the final frame, generating more shot attempts, but struggled to convert, shooting just 29.4%. The quarter ended 14-14, but Eastern's earlier surge proved decisive.
Despite a dip in field-goal percentage, the Mountaineers remained composed and continued to take advantage of foul trouble, hitting 7-of-8 free throws in the fourth to keep the lead secure. When the final buzzer sounded, Eastern walked away with an 82-69 victory — and a share of the conference crown.
