CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University placed three student-athletes from three different sports on the Cascade Conference McDonald's Players of the Week list, presented by Urban Edge Network.
Lexie Garza (Women's Wrestling),
Elizabeth Grandle (Women's Indoor Track & Field – Field), and
Logan Orchard (Men's Basketball) each earned weekly honors for their standout performances.
Women's Wrestling
Junior
Lexie Garza, from Wapato, Washington, earned her first career Women's Wrestler of the Week honor after an undefeated 4–0 weekend.
Garza opened the weekend with a dominant 1:19 pin over Big Bend's Jayde Coleman, contributing to EOU's 46–0 shutout victory in the dual. She continued her impressive run at Sunday's Mountaineer Open, recording three more pins in 0:13, 1:09, and 0:55 to capture first place in the 131-pound bracket.
Women's Indoor Track & Field - Field Athlete
Senior
Elizabeth Grandle, from Molalla, Oregon, competed at the Inland Northwest Invitational, where she placed eighth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.57 meters. The mark ranks her among the top 50 athletes nationally this season and narrowly missed her own school record, which currently stands fourth all-time at EOU.
The honor marks Grandle's second career Player of the Week selection and her first of the season.
Men's Basketball- Defense
Sophomore
Logan Orchard, from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, played a key role in EOU's victories over College of Idaho and Warner Pacific. Against COI, Orchard posted a near triple-double with 12 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds—eight on the defensive end—while also recording a block and a steal. He followed that performance with 11 points, eight rebounds, five defensive boards, and three steals versus Warner Pacific.
This is Orchard's first career Player of the Week honor.
