Volleyball Moves to No. 2 in Latest NAIA Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Oregon Volleyball moved to No. 2 in the latest NAIA NSC Top 25 Poll following its first loss of the season.

After opening the year with a historic 23-0 start, the Mountaineers fell to No. 5 Corban on Friday night, ending their program-record winning streak. Northwestern (Iowa) overtook EOU for the No. 1 spot, riding an 18-match winning streak of its own. The Eagles' last loss came against Eastern Oregon during the preseason.

The Mountaineers (24-1, 13-1 CCC) have six matches remaining in the regular season as they prepare to face Oregon Tech, Southern Oregon, College of Idaho, Warner Pacific (Ore.), Walla Walla (Wash.), and Lewis-Clark State (Idaho). EOU has already clinched a postseason berth but remains in contention for the CCC regular-season title and the opportunity to host the CCC Tournament.

Keira Vaughn leads the Mountaineers' offensive attack with 318 kills, averaging 3.93 kills per set. Brooke Womack follows with 233 kills at 2.88 kills per set. Eastern Oregon continues to showcase a balanced offensive attack, with five players recording more than 100 kills this season.

At the net, Jule Whitley anchors the Mountaineers' defensive effort with 1.23 blocks per set and sits just two blocks shy of reaching 100 on the season. In the back row, Jaycee Villastrigo and Womack lead the defensive effort, averaging 3.48 and 2.96 digs per set, respectively.

The Cascade Collegiate Conference remains well represented in the national rankings. College of Idaho climbed three spots to No. 5, while Corban moved to No. 6. Lewis-Clark State sits at No. 22, and Southern Oregon rounds out the ranked CCC teams at No. 24.

Eastern Oregon will travel to Oregon Tech on Friday before facing No. 24 Southern Oregon on Saturday as the Mountaineers continue the final stretch of the regular season.
