KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the sixth NAIA Men's Wrestling Top 25 Poll, Eastern Oregon made its return to the national rankings this week, checking in at No. 25 with 49 points. Five Mountaineer wrestlers earned individual rankings, including two freshmen appearing in the poll for the first time.
Kai Carson remained ranked at 133 pounds, moving to No. 15 with 33 points.
Braden Carson also returned to the rankings for the first time since the preseason poll, landing at No. 13 in the 133-pound division with 83 points.
Nico Rodriguez held a spot in the heavyweight rankings, moving to No. 13 with 82 points.
Freshmen
Eric Larwin and
Carlos Valdez made their national ranking debuts this week. Larwin checked in at No. 21 at 149 pounds with 39 points, while Valdez earned the No. 24 spot at 157 pounds with 12 points.
The Cascade Conference was well represented in the poll, with Southern Oregon ranked No. 6, Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) at No. 9, Providence at No. 13, Arizona Christian at No. 14, and Corban at No. 20. MSU-Northern, Simpson, and Evergreen also received votes.
The NAIA rankings are determined through a points-based voting process conducted by a panel of head coaches from each conference, evaluating both team and individual performances.
