KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Oregon University climbed two spots to No. 15 in the latest NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday morning.
The Mountaineers currently sit second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with a 10-3 league record and hold an 18-3 mark overall, placing them among the nation's top teams.
Since the previous poll, EOU went 3-2, earning victories over No. 20 Corban University, Bushnell University, and Walla Walla University, while suffering losses to No. 13 Lewis-Clark State College and RV College of Idaho.
Eastern Oregon's strong season continues to be fueled by senior
Kelsie Siegner. Siegner ranks second in the CCC in rebounds per game (8.6) and total blocks (37), while also sitting fifth in scoring at 14.3 points per game. She leads the team with 296 points this season and recently hit the 1,000-point milestone for her career.
Maggie Smith has also been a key contributor, totaling 183 points, 19 steals, and 39 assists. As a team, the Mountaineers lead the CCC in free throw percentage at 65.1%.
Defensively, Eastern Oregon remains stout, averaging 40.8 rebounds per game and holding opponents to just 36.9% shooting from the field.
The Cascade Collegiate Conference is also represented in the poll by No. 12 Lewis-Clark State College and No. 22 Corban University. Southern Oregon, Oregon Tech, and College of Idaho each received votes.
Eastern Oregon returns to action on Thursday, January 29, traveling to Portland, Oregon, to face Warner Pacific University at 5:30 p.m.
