MARSHALL, Mo. – On the second day of the Missouri Valley Invite, the Eastern Oregon men's wrestling team advanced four competitors into the semifinals and consolation rounds. Competing in a nationally competitive field, the Mountaineers finished 10th overall with 82 team points.
Advancing to day two were undefeated
Eric Larwin at 149 pounds, along with consolation bracket wrestlers
Braden Carson (133),
Carlos Valdez (157), and
Daniel Guerrero (141).
Larwin opened the day with a hard-fought 12–9 decision over Boedi Kirkland of Montreat College to secure a spot in the championship bout. In the finals, Larwin faced Brody Brisker of William Penn, falling by a 14–6 decision to finish the tournament as the runner-up.
Carson put together a strong day, opening with two victories that included an upset win over No. 13 Jarrod Gilliam of Briar Cliff. After a setback in his third match, Carson rebounded to close the tournament with a 10–7 decision over Landon Bertsch of Marian University (IN), earning a fifth-place finish.
Valdez also delivered an upset to begin the day, defeating No. 22 Christian Arberry of Marian (IN). He later dropped his next two matches to finish in eighth place.
Guerrero advanced to day two but was forced to forfeit his match and did not compete further.
Eastern Oregon placed three wrestlers overall and showcased resilience throughout a challenging tournament, highlighted by multiple upset victories over ranked opponents.
The Mountaineers return to action on Friday, January 30, traveling to Glendale, Arizona, for a dual against Arizona Christian University.
