MARSHALL, Mo. – After the first day of the Missouri Valley Invite, Eastern Oregon (RV) Men's Wrestling team sits in 9th place out of 41 teams with 61.5 points. The Mounties advanced four wrestlers into Day Two action while competing through deep, nationally competitive brackets.
Eric Larwin finished the day as the only undefeated Mountie. Larwin recorded a 6:28 fall over Tate Rusher (Friends Univ.) and a 5:27 fall over Jackson Syron (MSUN) to open the day. He went on to defeat Brock Gunnels (Reinhard Univ.) 8-2 before closing the day with a 4-1 upset over Indiana Tech's No.18 Marlone Kirksy. Tomorrow, Larwin is set to face Boedi Kirkland from Montreat College for the semifinal matchup of the 149 pound bracket .
Three Mountaineers will return for Day Two in the consolation bracket, facing up to four more matches to reach the 3rd place bouts.
- Braden Carson (133) went 3–1 on the day with two falls and a 7-1 decision before a narrow 3–2 loss to No. 15 Tuvshinjargal Zuunbayan (Missouri Valley). Carson will open Day Two against Justin Rodriguez (Hastings).
- Carlos Valdez (157) rebounded from an early loss to No. 12 Josey Jernegan (Univ. of St. Mary) with four consecutive wins – two falls, a21-6 technical fall, and a 15-6 major decision. Valdez will face No. 22 Christian Arberry (Marian).
- Daniel Guerrero (141) earned three wins—two technical falls and one fall—before a 4–1 loss to No. 5 Logan Wagner (Marian). Guerrero will face No. 15 Conner Kimbrough (Indiana Tech).
The remaining Mounties were eliminated on Day One but contributed team points through multiple wins, including
Cole Cross,
Hayden Martin,
Jackson Eylar, Nicolas Rodriguez,
Stone Robledo, and
Wylee Lindeen.
Eastern Oregon will continue competition on Day Two with semifinal and consolation matches still ahead.
